Erdington Ward Councillors Robert Alden, Gareth Moore and Bob Beauchamp have demanded that the City Council sort out the failed refuse collection service that has seen black bags and recycling left along many roads in Erdington despite the snow and ice having gone a week ago.
Cllr Gareth Moore said "the snow started melting last Thursday and by the weekend the roads were clear enough for the vehicles to get down. Yet despite this road after road in Erdington still has black bags and recycling left. With the wind we have had this week this has meant that it has now blown down the street in many cases making the area look untidy".
Cllr Robert Alden, who has been running a keep Erdington clean campaign, said "the Council has an obligation to collect the waste from houses, in previous years extra shifts have been put on over weekends or in the week to catch up when snow delays collections but this year the Council have refused to do this. To make matters worse they are not even putting extra street cleaning crews on to tidy the mess that has spread across some roads".
